Adding the Vendor Linguist Role

A vendor linguist is a vendor user who is managed by a vendor project manager, and has the vendor_linguist role. They work on submission phases assigned to them by a vendor project manager.

Vendor project managers (vendor user with the vendor_pm role) have the ability to claim submissions and then assign submission phases to vendor linguists. The vendor_pm role is available by default in Project Director, but is meant to function together with vendor users who have the vendor_linguist role.

To add the vendor_linguist role:

  1. Open the Project Director Administration Dashboard and click the Security folder. The system tab displays action buttons for adding and editing roles and a list of roles appears.
  2. Click Add Role.

The Add Role dialog box appears.

  3. Enter vendor_linguist as the Name, and select system as the Type.
  4. In the Role dropdown menu, select vendor_user and click Copy. This will ensure that the vendor_linguist also has the rights of a regular vendor user.
  5. Confirm the following User Policies in the Folder tab are enabled:
    • View Vendor Completed Folder

    • View Vendor Inbox Folder

    • View Vendor Sent Folder

  6. Disable the following User Policies in the Folder tab:
    • View Vendor Available Folder

    • View Vendor Quote Folder

The Folder tab should now have the User Policies in the Folder tab as they appear in the screenshot below.

  7. Click Add.
      Note:

Disabling the View Vendor Available Folder disables several notifications for vendor_linguist users which are received by vendor_pm users.

The vendor_linguist role is added to the list of Roles in the Security tab.
