Adding the Vendor Administrator Role

The Vendor Administrator feature allows a user to act as an administrator user for their vendor. Vendor administrator users can create new vendor users, new vendor administrator users, and manage their vendor users.

At least one user of each role (e.g., vendor_admin_user and vendor_user) must exist in the vendor configuration before the vendor administrator user can add new users of these different roles.

To add the vendor_admin_user role:

  1. Open the Project Director Administration Dashboard and click the Security folder.

The system tab displays action buttons for adding and editing roles and a list of roles appears.

  2. Click Add Role.

The Add Role dialog box appears.

  3. Enter vendor_admin_user as the Name, and select system as the Type.
  4. In the Role dropdown menu, select vendor_user and click Copy. This will ensure that the Vendor Administrator also has the rights of a regular vendor user.
  5. Enable the following User Policies in the Vendor Admin tab to allow the vendor admin user to add and manage vendor users of their organization:
    • Add Vendor Admin User

    • Edit Vendor Admin User

    • Enable/Disable Vendor Admin User

    • View Vendor Admin User

      Note:

The User Policies listed above are the default recommendation, and should be modified as needed.

  6. Enable the folder policy View Vendor Folders in the Folder tab.

      Note:

The Folder Policy View Vendors Folder must be enabled for the user to view the regular dashboard and access the administrator dashboard.

  7. Assign the vendor_admin_role to a vendor user. If one does not exist, then create a new user for that vendor and assign them the vendor_user role.
  8. Confirm that a user belonging to the same vendor is assigned the vendor_user role. If one does not exist, then create a new user for that vendor and assign them the vendor_user role.
